Gina, Gina, Gina! [Alice is so excited, she doesn't even realize how much she shortened Regina's name.]

I'm going to help with a school play! I'm going to be in it!

[ Regina's at work when Alice video-chats her, and her initial inclination is not to pick up. She's a week behind at work, between Neil being sick and then her being forced to keep to her bed by a vast conspiracy involving her mate and her children. But her work isn't nearly as important as her children, and when she picks up, she's glad she did.

The 'Gina hits a soft spot in her heart, and her smile is briefly wistful, but very briefly and then it flares with warmth and amusement. ]

That's wonderful, love. What play is it, and what part will you be?

[What Alice does not realize, and what she has misunderstood is that it's not a school play but rather a play run by children with the help of Snuggly Duckling.]

The play is Little Red Riding Hood! I've never acted before, I asked Princess Rapunzel what role I should be.

[ Of course it is. Regina suppresses a sigh and keeps on smiling. ]

I hope it's the version where the Huntsman saves Red and her grandmother from the wolf.

[ Instead of the version where Red is the wolf, and so is Granny, and the Huntsman... loses his heart and his life to the Evil Queen. Oh, Graham. ]

And what did Her Highness suggest?

Oh well, I don't know the version with the Huntsman, so... I thought... maybe... I could be um... Little Red Riding Hood.

Either way, you'll make a perfect Red Ridinghood. [ She gave Alice a dazzling smile, and then tossed her a little wink. ] Except I'm sure you're much too smart to stray from the path to talk to a wolf.

It would be nice if there were a version where Little Red Riding Hood and the wolf could be friends if she promised to feed him something else; many steaks maybe. Or perhaps he just need a perfect cup of tea. [Because Alice is of the opinion no solution is beyond being solved with "that perfect cup of tea."]

They were friends of a sort, in my world. But she liked coffee better than tea.
